Women and the city
The city is the urban space that serves as the framework of day to day life. Some approaches to "the right to the city" have tried to develop ideas to make it more "agreeable". The urban environment often brings about insecurity and a greater risk of violence against women. The city is the place where women both move around in to go to work as well as to carry out care and domestic chores. The easier and quicker these itineraries are, the more direct positive impact is produced on time availability and quality of life.
A city designed following the point of view of women tends to have an urban structure with shared green spaces where meeting and sociability take place. Public transport also plays a major role. Parks where children can play, pedestrian streets as well as proximity services and facilities all make life in the city easier for women.
